The Bend Parkway is an important for the Bend community and is the most heavily used section of U.S. 97 in Oregon. Parkway users frequently experience delays and congestion, and the Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization predicts that this segment is unlikely to adequately meet future travel needs without improvements.
ODOT has been looking at transportation problems on the Parkway and working to identify cost-effective, achievable improvements that will balance statewide and regional needs, while also serving local drivers as well as people who walk and ride bicycles.
