The public is invited to an Open House from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 26, at the NE Purcell Boulevard and Empire Avenue intersection.
Visitors can walk around on the recently-improved areas prior to the reopening of Empire Avenue, which is expected by December 3. “We invite anyone interested in knowing more about what’s coming next with this project to stop by the Open House. Project leaders will be on hand to answer questions from neighbors and people who use this corridor about roundabout work or detours or impacts on the nearby park,” said Project Engineer Sinclair Burr. Empire is currently closed for construction between NE 18th Street and NE Purcell Boulevard. When this phase ends, the next phase of the project includes work to the east of Purcell Boulevard. Roundabout construction at Empire Avenue and Purcell Boulevard will continue through winter months if weather allows. Only minor traffic impacts are expected through the winter months. This month, Bend City Councilors approved additional funding for the Empire Corridor Improvements project. This funding authorizes this high-priority transportation project to continue into the next phase. The Empire Corridor Improvements project is a priority project that will improve safety, multi-modal transportation options, access and connectivity for the neighborhood and the traveling public.
