- Seconded by: Erik and Glenn
Items Discussed:
Guest – Richard Berger, Mountain West Investment Corp.
- Richard Berger shared details about the proposed senior apartment building at the SE corner of Shevlin Park Rd. and Mt. Washington Dr. The currently vacant parcel is zoned RH (residential high density) and the land is owned by COCC. The proposal includes one 4-story building with 108 units and 139 parking spaces. Proposed amenities include a spa, workout facility, common kitchen, and coffee lounge. Both studios and 1 and 2 bedroom units will be available for 1-year+ leases, starting around $1,000/month. Construction will begin in late summer 2020.
- Jill was contacted by the Awbrey Butte Neighborhood Association with the suggestion to pool resources and combine efforts in areas like land use updates, fire safety, and possibly joint grant opportunities. The board was open to further discussions on this matter.
- Glenn attended the Wildfire Steering Committee meeting and shared that the evacuation plan needs work.
- Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) is available through COCC and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and is sponsored by a grant. Training will be grouped by Neighborhood Association to make it easier to stay organized after training.
- It was suggested that the board conduct a majority voice vote to amend the bylaws for 2-year terms and once approved, attendees can vote for board members via paper ballot.
- Erik presented the overall agenda, which will include an introduction to SWNA, move through the agenda items and guest speakers, then have time to mingle after.
- Outreach efforts to maximize attendance will include:
- Notice in the Summit West Living Publication
- Postcard mailer
- Notice on SWNA Facebook page, website, Nextdoor page.
- Email blast to all members
- Post flyers on neighborhood mailboxes
