General Membership Meeting - October 2, 2018
Meeting Notes
The Summit West Neighborhood Association (SWNA) held its annual general membership meeting on October 2, 2018 at the Unitarian Universalist Church. The meeting was called to order by Interim Chair Sandy Coats at approximately 6 PM. She announced that SWNA’s annual election was to take place tonight and asked everyone to fill in ballots. (Ballots were only available to registered members of SWNA and membership forms were also available to complete.)
The meeting continued with a presentation by Karen Swirsky about the City of Bend’s Transportation Safety Plan. The slides presented are shown below.
Then, Janet Hruby presented Streets & Operations information for residents. Her slides are also below.
Sergeant Mike Landolt of the Bend Police Department then made a presentation about public safety.
Questions from the audience included those on speeding in NWX, the speed limit on Mount Washington and Shevlin Roads especially with truck traffic and child safety during school commute hours.
Interim Chair Coats called for all ballots to be completed.
City Manager Eric King and Mayor Casey Roats then took questions from the audience.
Interim Chair Coats and Land Use officer Bill Bernardy then went over the proposed bylaws changes. A vote was taken and the new bylaws were overwhelmingly approved. The new bylaws are posted on the website (see the Home page for a link).
Interim Treasurer Patrick Grogan then announced that the following individuals had been elected for a one-year term to the board of the SWNA:
Kathy Schroeder, Co-Chair, NLA Representative
Patrick Grogan, Treasurer
Diana Lemus, Secretary
Bill Bernardy, Land Use, Traffic Safety, Communications, Disaster Preparedness
Byron Buck, Land Use, Traffic Safety, HOA Coordination
Debby Dunnabeck, Neighborhood Welcome
Jill Mehner, At Large
Neil Baunsgard, At Large
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8 PM. About 50 neighborhood association members attended the meeting.
